Admission interviews
Second round: October 4, 2021
Personal interview at BISLA upon agreement with an applicant.
In case that the applicant cannot attend a personal interview, a Skype call can be arranged after agreement with the Office of Student Affairs.
All applicants will receive a confirmation and an invitation for the admission interview after submission and processing of their application.
Conditions for Participation at the Admission Interview
The entrance examination consists of two parts: All applicants must send a filled application (online or by mail) and attend the admission interview.
- The basic requirement for the admission to bachelor studies in the field of political science at BISLA is the completion of secondary education or full secondary vocational education (§ 56 paragraph. 1 Act. No. 131/2002 Coll.). The applicant must substantiate compliance with this condition by submitting a certified copy of high school diploma no later than September 7, 2017.
- The candidate must bring a proof of identity, which he submits at the registration. The Rector of BISLA may decide to hold several rounds of the admission process, while their conditions are consistent with these conditions, except for the specific deadlines for applications in each round.
Content, Form, and Evaluation of the Entrance Examination
Applicants from the Slovak Republic and the member states of the European Union and the European Economic Area:
- Every applicant sends a filled out application (online, by e-mail, by mail, or personally)
- Admission interview shall be held in front of a committee which consists of three members of the BISLA academic community. The admission interview serves as an introduction of the applicant to the Admission Committee, where he states his/her motivation to pursue studies at BISLA and shows general knowledge in social sciences and humanities (corresponding with the curriculum of civics and history in secondary grammar schools). The applicant shall come to the admission interview personally. In case the applicant cannot attend the admission interview in person, the applicant may arrange a date of the interview through Skype.
- English proficiency (level of language ability, conversational level of English). English language proficiency is evaluated on the basis of leaving exams results and/or certificates of English language assessment (IELTS, TOEFL, or equivalent).
- Academic results
Evaluation of the results of secondary education and the results of the leaving exams.
Applicants from countries outside of the European Union:
- Every applicant sends a filled out application (online, by e-mail, by mail, or personally)
- Admission interview through Skype. The date of the interview with the applicant will be set individually;
- Statement of Purpose. Applicant sends a brief cover letter, which includes reasons for selection BISLA for their studies, assessment of his/her study results, and aspirations for the future;
- English proficiency (in case English is not the native language of the applicant, the level of language ability and the conversational level of English will be evaluated). English language proficiency is evaluated on the basis of leaving exams results and/or certificates of English language assessment (IELTS, TOEFL, or equivalent).
- Academic results
Evaluation of the results of secondary education and the results of the leaving exams.
List of Applicants
After each round of the entrance exams, applicants will be ranked on a list according to the points received in the admission process. The Admission Committee will then propose to the Rector to accept a maximum of 25 applicants. The Admission Committee may decide if it will recommend to admit less or more applicants.
Decision on Admission and Rejection
The Rector decides on admission and rejection of the applicants and the results of the decision will be posted on BISLA website. A written decision about the result of the admission procedure will be delivered to all applicants by mail to the hands of the applicant only.
